According to a 2017 report released by the New Mexico Department of Health, out of the 10 leading causes of death in New Mexico, 8 are related to alcohol, tobacco, or drug abuse. The overuse of alcohol, illicit drugs, or prescription drugs is a common and costly problem. The New Mexico Department of Public Safety wants you to know that if you or a loved one struggle with a drug or alcohol addiction, there are resources available to you. Do not hesitate to ask for help, many people are able to recover from their addiction and lead healthy, fulfilling lives.

The New Mexico Department of Public Safety takes an active role in helping New Mexicans overcome addiction.
