If you are looking for a career in law enforcement — a profession that will make a positive impact in the lives of others — you’ve come to the right place! The New Mexico State Police has a proud history of serving the citizens of New Mexico for more than 80 years. As we move toward the future, we are searching for dedicated men and women who can help us write the next chapter in that history.
Being a New Mexico State Police officer is a tough and demanding job, one that is also filled with reward and honor. Our selection process is rigorous and our training requirements are extremely challenging, one of the most demanding of any law enforcement academy in the country. If you successfully meet the challenge, you too can wear the uniform with pride that many honorable men and women before you have worn.
Unlike many states, we provide much more than Highway Patrol duties. The NMSP has the statewide authority to investigate and enforce criminal statutes, motor vehicle statutes, and administrative statutes. We are a division of the New Mexico Department of Public Safety, and offer a number of specialized units for advancement, including Special Operations, Special Investigations, and a Motor Transportation division. Judge for yourself the benefits of a career with the New Mexico State Police, and ask yourself if you’ve got what it takes to be one of us.
