Madrid, NM – On August 9, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the New Mexico State Police responded to a report of an individual suffering from a gunshot wound on NM Highway 14 near Milepost 29.
The victim, identified as Patrick Wheeler, was struck by gunfire after an unidentified male riding a motorcycle fired into Wheeler’s vehicle. Mr. Wheeler succumbed to his injuries. Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect or providing any information related to this incident.
