Albuquerque, NM- As part of our ongoing proactive operations, the New Mexico State Police Crime Suppression Unit (CSU), tactical unit, Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), the 2nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office, and Department of Corrections Security Threat Intelligence Unit (STIU) executed a successful joint operation resulting in the arrests of 2 violent fugitives.

On October 12, 2023, A proactive operation was carried out with the above-mentioned agencies in order to identify 2 felons, who were wanted and had lengthy criminal backgrounds.

Keon Harris (30) of Albuquerque, was arrested after barricading himself inside his apartment, in the area of 13309 Mountain Rd NE in Albuquerque. He had multiple active felony warrants for his arrest.

Edilberto Camacho (30) of Albuquerque was wanted by STIU for charges of kidnapping and shooting from/at a motor vehicle. These charges stemmed from an incident between he and his girlfriend on Oct 4, 2023, where she escaped from him, as he fired a round from a pistol. She was unhurt during that incident.

Camacho was located at a storage facility in the vicinity of Central and 50th where he attempted to hide from authorities. A search warrant was issued, and Camacho was located hiding in a corner of the storage facility. He was arrested without incident.

“When agencies work together, wanted criminals are finding out they can run but they can’t hide. Well executed plans will continue to lead to more arrests, which will lead to safer communities.” -said New Mexico State Police Chief Troy Weisler.
