Mckinley County, NM – On June 10, 2023, at around 10:15 a.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash involving a single vehicle on Interstate 40 and Six Mile Canyon Road, east of Gallup, NM.
The initial investigation indicated that a 2003 Chevy pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 around mile marker 39. For reasons still under investigation, the Chevy drove into the median, and rolled over onto Six Mile Canyon Road. Cesar Alfaro (50) of Mcloud OK, a passenger in the truck, was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.
The driver of the Chevy truck, along with one other passenger were transported to an area hospital. One passenger was flown to an area hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor in this crash.
This crash is being investigated by the New Mexico State Police.
