Fatal Single Vehicle Rollover in Otero County
Otero County, NM – On December 19, 2022, at around 8:44 p.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash on US Highway 70, north of Mescalero, New Mexico.
The initial investigation shows a 2000 Ford Ranger was traveling north on US 70 near mile marker 254. For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the Ford left the roadway and rolled. The passenger, Meriah Beltran-Pisana (20), of Roswell, NM was ejected. Beltran-Pisan was transported by emergency medical personnel to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the Ford, a twenty-one-year-old male from Roswell, NM was transported by emergency medical personnel to an area hospital for minor injuries.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and seatbelts do not appear to have been properly utilized.
