Guadalupe County, NM – On August 26, 2022, at approximately 2:20 a.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a single vehicle fatal rollover crash on Interstate 40, near milepost 276, east of Santa Rosa, NM.

The initial investigation indicates a 2015 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Roy Alan Darling (80) of Williams, AZ, was traveling east on Interstate 40. For unknown reasons, the Jeep left the roadway and drove into an embankment. The Jeep then went airborne and rolled. Darling sustained fatal injuries in the rollover crash and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of Medical Investigator.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and seatbelts appear to have been properly used. This crash is under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
