Los Lunas, NM – A New Mexico State Police pursuit ends in the arrest of two suspects in Los Lunas.
A New Mexico State Police officer was on the lookout Wednesday, July 27, 2022, for a homicide suspect wanted in connection with a Valencia County murder case when the officer spotted an individual and car, he believed matched the descriptions provided to law enforcement.
While the officer was surveilling the suspect and car at a home on Mountain View Road in Valencia County, the suspect ran from the house and the officer followed, initiating a foot pursuit. Immediately after, a second person fled the location in a white F250, with the first suspect jumping into the passenger seat.
The officer followed and a secondary pursuit ensued, with assistance from the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office and Los Lunas Police Department. That pursuit ended at 3484 NM 47 in Los Lunas after the F250 crashed through a fence.
The passenger in the truck, later identified as Alonso Bojorquez, 29, was taken into custody immediately. The driver of the truck, later identified as Manuel Saenz, 36, fled on foot. He was later apprehended nearby hiding in a chicken coop. It was later determined that the F250 was reported stolen.
After identifying both suspects, it was determined that neither is connected to the original homicide case which prompted the surveillance on Mountain View Road.
Mr. Saenz and Mr. Bojorquez were both treated for minor injuries at a local hospital following the pursuit and have since been booked into the Valencia County Detention Center.
Mr. Bojorquez, the passenger, was booked on outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Mr. Saenz, the driver, was also booked on outstanding misdemeanor warrants and faces new charges in connection with this pursuit, including:
- Receiving/Transferring a Stolen Vehicle (Felony)
- Aggravated Fleeing (Felony)
- Felon in Possession of a Firearm (Felony)
