Lincoln County, NM – On March 24, 2022, at around 6:20 a.m., the New Mexico State Police responded to a fatal crash involving a 2017 Lincoln passenger vehicle and a 2021 Indian Motorcycle on U.S. 380 near milepost 94.

The initial investigation indicates that the Lincoln driven by a 57-year-old-female from Alto, NM, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 380. The Lincoln was driving behind a pickup truck pulling a trailer and attempted to pass the pickup. While passing, the Lincoln struck the Indian Motorcycle which was traveling west on U.S. 380. The motorcycle rider, Leonard B. Corona, 50, of San Patricio, NM, suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.

Alcohol was not a factor in this crash, and the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the Lincoln was not injured and will not be identified unless charged with a crime. This crash is under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
