Santa Fe County, NM -On February 16, 2022, at about 3:00 p.m., the New Mexico State Police responded to a report of a pedestrian found deceased on the shoulder of Interstate 25, near milepost 285, east of Santa Fe, NM.

Upon initial investigation of evidence at the scene, an unidentified female pedestrian was struck by an unknown northbound vehicle on Interstate 25, in the early morning hours of February 16, 2022. The vehicle did not stop and left the scene. The female pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of Medical Investigator (OMI). New Mexico State Police (NMSP) is currently working with OMI to determine the cause of death and identity.

NMSP is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle, which through investigation appears to have front-end damage and be a blue 2018 or newer Freightliner Cascadia Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV). The CMV may possibly be traveling north on Interstate 25 towards Colorado. Anyone with information is asked to call the New Mexico State Police at (505) 841-9256 option 1. This case remains under investigation.
