Quay County, NM -On February 12, 2022, at approximately 12:51 p.m., the New Mexico State Police responded to a report of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 40 eastbound, near milepost 351, west of San Jon, NM.
Upon initial investigation of evidence at the scene, a pedestrian, Andrea Lee Carnes (49) of Elk City, OK was struck in the roadway by an unknown vehicle that was traveling east on Interstate 40. After the crash, the vehicle left the scene and has not been located. The pedestrian, Carnes sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Office of Medical Investigator.
