Guadalupe County, NM – On December 19, 2021, at approximately 1:14 p.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash involving a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) on Interstate 40 near milepost 268, west of Santa Rosa, NM.

The initial investigation indicates a 2017 Freightliner CMV, driven by Mandeep Singh (32) of Michigan, was traveling east on Interstate 40. For unknown reasons, the CMV left the roadway and entered the median. The CMV struck a cable barrier and overturned onto its side. The driver Singh, who was not wearing a seatbelt was ejected. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of Medical Investigator.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and seatbelts were not properly utilized. This crash is under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
