Otero County, NM – On December 17, 2021, at approximately 7:31 p.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a crash in which a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Otero County. The incident occurred on US Highway 70 around mile marker 208 west of Alamogordo, New Mexico.

The initial investigation indicates Mary Woods (28) of Saint Joseph, LA was in the middle of the roadway of US Highway 70 when she was struck by a passing vehicle. Woods sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.

The driver who was uninjured in the crash, will not be named by the New Mexico State Police. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and seatbelts appear to have been properly utilized. No additional information is available at this time.
