Guadalupe County, NM – On December 11, 2021, at around 3:30 p.m., the New Mexico State Police was contacted by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) in Thonotosassa, Florida. HCSO told NMSP they had reason to believe that Trent Madison Diggs, 28, of Thonotosassa, Florida, was traveling in a stolen vehicle through New Mexico on Interstate 40 near milepost 300.

NMSP learned from HCSO that Diggs was a suspect in a homicide case being investigated by HCSO. He was driving a stolen silver 2016 Chevrolet Cruze with a Florida license plate. An NMSP officer on patrol in the area located the suspect vehicle traveling west on Interstate 40 near milepost 281. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Diggs pulled his vehicle over and was taken into custody without incident.

He was booked into the Guadalupe County Detention center and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. Diggs will be extradited to Florida to face charges. For details on the crimes committed in Florida please contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
