Truth or Consequences, NM – On Saturday, November 6, the New Mexico State Police, in partnership with the New Mexico Department of Veterans Services, will take part in a day-long celebration honoring and providing support for the veterans of New Mexico.

The Veterans Appreciation Day celebration will include a parade of Law Enforcement, First Responders, and Veterans organizations, as well as a meet and greet with the agencies. Veterans will also have the chance to meet with representatives from organizations that assist, like the Department of Veterans Services, the New Mexico VA Health Care System, the New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department, and more.

A parade will step off at noon, featuring more than a dozen New Mexico State Police units. Other Law Enforcement and Public Safety agencies will also take part, including the Truth or Consequences Police Department, the Albuquerque and Rio Rancho Police Departments, and Sheriff’s Offices from Sierra County, Dona Ana County, and Grant County. Volunteer Fire Departments from Caballo and Monticello and other agencies like the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish and The American Legion of Truth or Consequences will also participate. ABLE 7, the New Mexico State Police helicopter, will also perform a fly-by.

The parade route begins at Myrtle Street and South Broadway St. and will pass by the New Mexico State Veterans’ Home, to ensure the residents there get to view the celebration. The public will not be allowed on the grounds of the Veterans’ Home but is encouraged to view the parade on South Broadway St

Following the parade, there will be a static display of the vehicles and equipment at Veterans Memorial Park in Truth or Consequences. The public is invited to come for a meet and greet with the participating agencies. This is where veterans can also meet with representatives from organizations that provide assistance and support.

We hope the public will join the New Mexico State Police and our First Responder partners in honoring the men and women who have given so much of themselves to protecting and serving our state and country.
