Sierra County, NM – On September 11, 2021, at approximately 4:25 p.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a one vehicle fatal rollover crash on State Road 59, near mile post 9 west of Winston, NM.
The initial investigation indicates a 2004 Ford F-250 pickup, driven by James D. Lara (57) of Las Cruces, NM, was traveling west on State Road 59. For reasons unknown, the Ford left the roadway and rolled. The driver, Lara was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of Medical Investigator.
Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor in the crash and seat belts appear to have not been not utilized. This crash is under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
