Otero County, NM – On August 21, 2021, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal motorcycle crash on Carrizozo Canyon Road (Mescalero Route 4) near the intersection of the Carrizozo Community Center, in Mescalero, NM.
The initial investigation indicates a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Thomas Lund (33) of La Luz, NM was traveling south on Carrizozo Canyon Road. For unknown reasons, Lund lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected. Lund sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of Medical Investigator.
Alcohol does not appear to be factor in the crash. This crash is under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
