Chaves County, NM – On June 8, 2021, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a two-vehicle fatal crash involving a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) and an ATV, at the intersection of County Club Road and the Roswell Relief Route by Roswell, NM.

The initial investigation indicated an ATV 4-Wheeler, driven by Trinidad V. Loya (76) of Roswell, NM entered the intersection of Country Club Road and the Roswell Relief Route. For unknown reasons, the ATV failed to yield and was struck by 2015 Western Star CMV that was traveling south on the Roswell Relief Route. Loya sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of Medical Investigator. The driver of the CMV, a 51-year-old male of Albuquerque, NM was uninjured.

Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash and seatbelts were properly used by the driver of the CMV. This crash is under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
