Otero County, NM – On June 5, 2021, at approximately 12:01 p.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 54, near mile post 47, south of Alamogordo, NM.
The initial investigation indicates a 2007 Honda motorcycle, driven by Michael Warren Hulburt Jr. (51) of El Paso, TX was traveling north on U.S. Highway 54. For unknown reasons, the motorcycle left the roadway. The driver, Hulburt Jr. and a 46-year-old female passenger were both ejected from the motorcycle. Hulburt Jr. sustained fatal injuries in the crash. He was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of Medical Investigator. The female passenger sustained unknown injuries. She was transported by emergency medical personnel to an area hospital.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. This crash is under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
