Socorro County, NM – On April 29, 2021 at approximately 6:03 p.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal rollover crash on Interstate 25, near mile post 183 south of Belen, NM.

The initial investigation shows a 2000 Chevrolet SUV, driven by Megan Cashman (22) of Edgewood, NM, was traveling south on Interstate 25. For unknown reasons the vehicle left the roadway and rolled. The driver, Cashman who was not wearing a seatbelt was ejected from the vehicle. Cashman sustained fatal injuries and she was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of Medical Investigator. A passenger in the Chevrolet, a 1-year-old child sustained unknown injuries. The child was transported by emergency medical personnel to an area hospital.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. Seatbelts were only properly utilized by the child passenger. For the privacy of the family, the identity of the child will not be released. This crash remains under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
