Chaves County-On April 4, 2021, New Mexico State Police Uniform officers with the assistance of the New Mexico State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit and Aerial Drone Team investigated a fatal head-on crash where two teen sisters ages, 17 and 12-years-old lives were taken when their vehicle was struck head-on by a vehicle attempting to pass another vehicle on NM Highway 2 near Crockett Road, south of Roswell, NM.

 

During the crash investigation, a male driver identified as John Ensor (33) of Roswell, NM showed indications of impairment at the time of the crash. Officers also located narcotic drugs inside the vehicle Ensor was driving. Ensor was transported by emergency medical personnel to an area hospital where he was treated until April 12, 2021.

 

On April 12, 2021, an arrest warrant was issued for Ensor from the Fifth Judicial District Court. Ensor was charged with two felony counts of Homicide by Vehicle (DWI), Possession of a controlled substance (Methamphetamine), Limitations of Overtaking on the Left, Driving While License is Revoked, Failure to Register or Title a Vehicle, and No Insurance.

 

On April 13, 2021, New Mexico State Police Uniform officers from Roswell, and officers from the Fugitive Apprehension Unit, tracked down Ensor at a residence on Hobson Road, south of Roswell, NM. Ensor was taken into custody without incident. Ensor was transported and booked into the Chaves County Detention Center.
