Guadalupe County, NM – On November 11, 2022, at around 6:30 p.m., New Mexico State Police officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 54 at about milepost 200 near Vaughn, NM.
The initial investigation indicated that a 2022 Ford Ranger, driven by Aaron Jantzi, 36, of Corona, NM, was traveling north on US Highway 54 when for an unknown reason it crossed into opposing traffic and collided head-on with a 2014 GMC Van that was traveling southbound.
Jantzi suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator. The 35-year-old-driver of the Van was transported to an area hospital for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Alcohol and speed appear to be contributing factors in this crash which is under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
