Pedestrian Fatally struck in Taos County

Taos County, NM - On November 14, 2020 at approximately 6:05 p.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a crash in which a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Taos County. The incident occurred on New Mexico Highway 285 around mile marker 384 near Tres Piedras, New Mexico.

The initial investigation indicates Destry Walsh (43) of Tres Piedras, NM was in the middle a dark unlit roadway when he was struck by a passing vehicle. Walsh sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.

The driver will not be named by New Mexico State Police, was uninjured. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and seatbelts appear to have been properly utilized. No additional information is available at this time.
