Single Vehicle Fatal Crash on US54 in Torrance County

Torrance County, NM – On December 29, 2019 at about 6:15 p.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash on US54, near mile post 172, north of Corona, NM.

The initial investigation shows a 2005 Ford F-350, driven by a forty-eight-year-old male of Melrose, NM was traveling north on US54. For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway and rolled. The driver of the Ford sustained unknown injuries and he was transported to a hospital in Albuquerque by ambulance. His condition is unknown.

A passenger in the Ford, Enid Miller (77) of Carrizozo, NM was ejected and sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of Medical Investigator.

Alcohol is suspected in being a contributing factor to the crash, and seatbelts were not properly utilized. The driver of the Ford will not be identified at this time. The crash is still under investigation by the New Mexico State Police Uniform Bureau and the New Mexico State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit. No other information is available.
