State Police Investigate Altercation at Southern New Mexico Correctional Facility

Las Cruces, NM – On November 26, 2018 at about 7:21 p.m. New Mexico State Police was asked to investigate an altercation between two inmates at Southern New Mexico Correctional Facility (SNMCF). State Police was told that at around lunch time, 12:03 p.m., inmate Justin Hansen got into a physical altercation with inmate Marcos Gonzales in housing unit 3B.
Hansen was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released back to SNMCF. No injuries were reported to Gonzales. Both Justin Hansen and Marcos Gonzales refused to give statements to investigators. This incident is still under investigation. Upon completion the case will be forwarded to the appropriate District Attorney’s office for review and to determine if charges will be filled.
