### Barricaded Suspect Arrested by State Police on Interstate 25

Bernalillo County, NM - On November 24, 2018, at around 6:31 p.m., New Mexico State Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on a white Nissan pickup for a traffic violation. The traffic stop was on Tramway near Interstate 25.
The driver, Orlando Lopez (56) of Albuquerque, NM refused to exit his vehicle. Lopez armed himself with a knife and barricaded himself inside his vehicle. State Police Crisis Negotiators and Tactical Team were called in to assist, and east and westbound lanes on Tramway and I-25 were closed. After hours of negotiations, Lopez was and taken into custody. Lopez was transported and booked into the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center in Albuquerque, NM.
Orlando Lopez was charged with the following:
• Driving While Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor or Drugs (4th or Subsequent Offense)
• Speeding
• Failure to Yield to Oncoming Traffic
• Failure to Obey Signs Directing Traffic
